Sun protection from caffeine?

A new study from the Journal Of Investigative Dermatology suggests that caffeine inhibits the progression of some sun damage in skin cells. For the study, the scientists looked at caffeine's effect on human skin cells in a laboratory that had been exposed to ultraviolet radiation. They found that in cells damaged by UV rays, caffeine interrupted a protein called ATR-Chk1, causing the damaged cells to self-destruct. Further research still needs to be done but if you like drinking your morning coffee, keep it up!
